To The Editor,
It was wonderful to read in your newspaper that Leicester is one of the best places to live in the UK for jobs, health, wages, skills and housing.
As the city's MEP, I was delighted with these findings, along with statistics which showed Derby and Nottingham, (which are also in my constituency), were above the national average on all measures too.
Leicester has much to be proud of and your reporter mentioned some of the reasons why, including details of the many boosts to industry and jobs over recent months.
One part of the report did catch my eye though - accounting firm PWC, which carried out the survey, said, 'growth across the board had been underpinned by strong employment within the city and surroundings, which had continued despite the uncertainties following following the Brexit vote'.
I would maintain that much of the recent upsurge in business, investment and jobs is BECAUSE of that Brexit voite!
