MEP Margot Parker has rubbished scare stories that petrol prices will go up if Britain leaves the EU.
Last week the RAC predicted a two-car family in the UK could pay about £8 a month more to fill up their cars.
But Margot Parker, MEP for Lincolnshire, said: "This is typical of the scaremongering we keep hearing from those who wish to remain in the EU.
"There is no evidence to back up these claims at all - the only changes will be positive ones.
"These changes will allow us to make our own laws and control our own destiny."
The MEP, who is also UKIP's small business spokesman, said once out of the EU, the country would be able to help safeguard prices, jobs and small businesses.
