In The Media & Newsletter » Margot Parker - turn Lincolnshire lights back on
To The Editor,
The latest vandalism incident in Lincoln shows just how absurd the decision was to switch off street lights.
Your piece on Patricia Hamer, whose car was smashed up by yobs, makes us in UKIP, even more determined to get the lights switched back on.
The controversial decision to plunge the city into darkness is causing worry and stress among many people. Mrs Hamer herself said it is 'frightening'.
We all know belts may have to be tightened in the current economic climate but this is counter-productive - far from saving money it is putting extra pressure on our police force.
Margot Parker, UKIP MEP for Lincolnshire
