In The Media & Newsletter » Margot Parker shocked to read that a 77-year-old man was left stranded
To The Editor,
I was shocked to read in your paper that a 77-year-old man was left stranded at Lincoln Hospital after being transferred from Grantham Accident and Emergency on Christmas Day.
You report that Peter Clawson, Welham Street, contacted 111 who sent him to Grantham Hospital.
But due to a lack of facilities, he was then taken by ambulance to Lincoln Hospital.
After treatment he was enquired about his transport home, only to be told that it was against their rules.
I sincerely hope an investigation is launched into this - for an old aged pensioner to be left effectively stranded would have been a frightening ordeal.
Hospitals are being stretched to their limits and over Christmas would have been extremely busy but I would like to think situations like this should not arise.
