I note worrying reports that since 2010, there are 500 fewer bobbies employed across Leicestershire and Rutland because of Government cuts.
It is little wonder the public is exasperated and has little confidence in our police.
The Government's cuts to services - including the police - has led to numerous problems.
Now is the time to conduct a root and branch review of policing, with a Royal Commission, which will establish what is required to ensure the police deliver a service to the public which is fit for purpose, both now and in the future.
We have to ensure our police force is adequately funded and paid for.
