I have watched the reaction to new consent forms in sex assault cases, which ask victims of crime to give police permission to access information such as messages, photographs and emails from their digital devices,
The rules are being rolled out across the country and have caused division and arguments.
It is a tough balancing act the authorities need to get to grips with - the rights of individuals to their privacy and the need for justice to be seen and done on all sides are both important.
Police and lawyers have to handle a very delicate balancing act here and ensure justice is done, while also making sure victims are not put off coming forward to report serious crimes.
