In The Media & Newsletter » Margot Parker MEP - The public wants the resources put in to keeping our communities safe
So, almost eight out of 10 reported burglaries in Lincolnshire were unresolved by the authorities.
It showed Lincolnshire Police only solved 22 per cent of burglaries in the 12 months ending last year, with its Assistant Chief Constable saying the force is "financially stretched."
This is worrying on all levels for the people of Lincolnshire and it is little surprise confidence in our police forces is falling.
The Government must look at the funding requirements our police forces need to do the job efficiently and keep people safe from crime.
The public sees less police on the streets and the fear of crime increases - the monetary pressures on our police forces must be eased.
I have to say that the police themselves should also look at their priorities in tackling crime. Public confidence falls further when forces, (not Lincolnshire, I have to add), seem to concentrate on 'hurtful' posts from people on Twitter and other social networking sites.
The public wants the resources put in to keeping our communities safe, rather than people being offended on websites.
