MARGOT Parker MEP said she was appalled at the findings of a report into sex abuse within the aid sector.
The damning report by MPs said the aid sector was guilty of "complacency verging on complicity" over the "endemic" sex abuse scandal.
Mrs Parker, who has spoken out on numerous occasions about the scandal, said: "The findings are appalling.
"It appears some senior charities officials were more concerned about protecting their own reputations, rather than tackling the abuse which has gone on."
The inquiry, launched after revelations senior Oxfam staff paid survivors of the 2010 Haiti earthquake for sex, was welcomed by charities.
Its findings go back to 2001 and said despite charities knowing about problems, there had been a "collective failure of leadership", with action only when there was a crisis.
Mrs Parker said: "Now this is fully out in the open, it is time to punish severley those who carried out the abuse and put in strong measures to make sure this never happens again.
"The recommendations made in the report must be implemented robustly."
