Dear Sir,

I was pleased to read in The Leicester Mercury that a £26m track could be built to test driverless cars at speeds of up to 155mph.

Hopefully, planning permission will be granted for the track, which will allow

companies to test autonomous vehicles.

The plans for the site near Hinckley would see 1,800 new jobs created - a tremendous boost for Leicestershire and the surrounding areas.

It also shows great confidence in technology and innovation in the UK - ensuring we become a world leader in the development of driver less cars.

Yours faithfully,

Margot Parker, MEP for Leicestershire
