To the Editor,

Dear Sir,

I read with a growing sense of disgust and anger your article on six engraved brass plaques being stolen from the Hardwick War Memorial in Clumber Park.

These plaques contained the names of those who lost their lives during the war.

Stealing them is beyond low - a despicable act and makes me question the mentality of these thieves.

To steal something marking the lives of those who had fallen during the two world wars is deeply saddening.

I can only hope people search their conscience and inform the police if they know who has taken them.

Yours faithfully,

Margot Parker, MEP for Nottinghamshire
