In The Media & Newsletter » Margot Parker MEP - imperative funding is found to secure and safeguard the future of domestic abuse refuges
It is imperative funding is found to secure and safeguard the future of domestic abuse refuges in Northamptonshire.
There are just nine refuges in the country which are exclusively for male victims of domestic abuse.
The news one of the centres in Northamptonshire, along with four women's refuges, faces closure unless £100,000 can be found by March, is deeply worrying.
The county council faces severe financial problems and it these type of services - which can be particularly crucial at this time of the year - which suffer greatly from a lack of funding.
I would appeal for the Government to step in and directly help. It has committed an extra £19m to expand services for survivors of domestic abuse in England but Northamptonshire has been unable to access this money.
That must change - lives are at risk here.
