To The Editor,

Dear Sir/Madam,

I was heartened to read that Muslim female preachers and Christian nuns attended a recent training awareness course in Eqypt.

Led by that country's National Council for Women, it was held to promote Egyptian women's issues.

The fact that the Council is using female preachers and nuns to serve women's issues is a positive step on the path towards equality.

A door-to-door campaign is also being carried out - reaching one million Egyptian women already. The problems raised have girls dropping out of schools, female genital mutilation and violence against women.

As my party's Women's and Equalities spokesperson these are issues I am also campaigning on in the UK and my role within the EU.

Any steps to address these issues and work towards a fairer society - whether in Eqypt, Europe, or anywhere else in the world, is most welcome.

Yours faithfully,

Margot Parker, MEP for the East Midlands
