In The Media & Newsletter » Margot Parker MEP - asking questions about the health service Lincolnshire
To The Editor,
It is a great worry that GPs in Lincolnshire have been asked not to refer patients to specialist consultants unless 'absolutely necessary'.
You reported that Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissioning Group has asked GPs to find alternatives where possible, affecting cardiology, neurology and ear, nose and throat departments.
What do GPs now do with people who need referring for these procedures? Tell them to wait? Refer them to departments outside of Lincolnshire? How will the pressure on these departments subside to allow the normal running of the services again?
This is a major concern and comes soon after the closure of Grantham and District Hospital's accident and emergency department at nights due to a shortage of doctors.
Certainly, there are important questions which need answers in Lincolnshire.
Margot Parker, MEP for Lincolnshire."
