In The Media & Newsletter » Margot Parker applauds this initiative in raising awareness of many important issues facing women
To The Editor,
I read with interest in The Indian Express, about 'Facebook Dind'I' - a virtual platform to share updates about social causes.
This year, 'wari ti chi' ('a journey about her'), has started - to discuss the issues faced by women.
The issues include female foeticide, sexual abuse, misconceptions about menstruation, child marriage, dowry, domestic violence, the rights of a widow, women stuck in old customs and rigid traditions, contribution of women saints in warkari community and women empowerment.
I applaud this initiative in raising awareness of many important issues facing women, not only in India but across the world.
As UKIP's Women's and Equalities spokesperson I am trying to raise the issue of the rights of women in communities - this battle for 'her' is one we must win.
Margot Parker, UKIP MEP for the East Midlands and the party's spokesperson on Women and Equalities.
