To The Editor,

Dear Sir,

It was refreshing to read in your paper how a mother-and-daughter team are hoping to breathe new life into a pub in Belper.

April Elliott and daughter Amber-Rose have taken on the Thorn Tree Inn, in Chesterfield Road, as a real ale and live music venue.

Hats off to them – too many pubs have closed in recent years thanks to Government policies and pricing issues.

Pubs and clubs are community hubs and crucial to life in towns and villages up and down the country – to read about April and Amber-Rose and their efforts to reinvigorate The Thorn Tree Inn was pleasing.

Yours faithfully,

Margot Parker, MEP for Derbyshire and UKIP deputy leader
