In The Media & Newsletter » Letter to Corby Telegraph - Post Office concerns
To The Editor,
Having read your report, (Post Office branch in Corby supermarket to close), alarm bells started ringing.
As MEP for Corby and indeed, the whole of the East Midlands, my mail bag and e-mail inbox is full of concerns from sub- postmasters and worried customers about the seemingly slow death of the Post Office.
We have seen such an erosion in services over recent years and it is a crying shame.
In this latest plan featured in your newspaper, it appears the branch in the Co-Op food store in Alexandra Road is set to close in January.
Notice has been given to the Post Office and now its bosses are on the look-out for more premises in that area to serve customers.
I really hope they are successful in their search - Post Offices offer a valuable service but they are also an integral part of our life, where people meet and chat. Just like the great British, pub it appears it is another tradition and way of life which is on the decline.
Margot Parker, UKIP MEP for Corby
