In The Media & Newsletter » Illegal workers crackdown
I read with interest you piece in Monday's newspaper about James Brokenshire, Minister for Security and Immigration, warning on crackdowns on illegal workers.
His words came after 13 immigration offenders were arrested in a raid at a Leicester factory by a specialist Home Office enforcement team. None of these men had the right to work in the UK and none of them should have been employed by a firm in this country.
He used your paper to send out a 'warning' to employers in Leicester and beyond who are trying to cheat the authorities and use illegal workers.
Fine words but while we are in the EU and have little or no control over our borders the job of stopping illegal immigrants becomes more and more difficult - just look at the problems of illegal immigrants coming into Italy and ending up as stowaways on lorries bound for the UK.
We need to control our borders - only then will the tighter controls on illegal immigrants come about.
Yours, Margot Parker, UKIP MEP for Leicestershire
