In The Media & Newsletter » Crucial Remembrance Parade goes ahead
SKEGNESS MEP Margot Parker has called for councillors and Royal British Legion officers to get together to ensure the town's annual parade can be held.
Skegness Town Council organised the annual Remembrance Day parade last year but have been told that this year police will be unable to stop traffic for the parade as in previous years, meaning there could not be rolling closures to reduce disruption in the town.
Mrs Parker said: "Everyone is agreed just how important the parade is. We must never forget the sacrifices made.
"I understand the problems with changing routes and the unavailability of rolling road closures.
"But the clock is ticking and these issues need to be resolved to give organisers plenty of time to get the event planned.
"I know I am speaking for the people of Skegness when I say a resolution is needed - I'm sure commonsense will prevail and Skegness will hold aq parade the whole town town can be proud of."
