In The Media & Newsletter » Concern over Lincoln health centre
To The Editor,
I was most concerned to read that Healthwatch Lincolnshire has admitted it "may not seem the public voice had an influence" on the decision to close the Monks Road Walk-In-Centre.
A whistleblower claimed the proposal was a 'done deal' and the eventual closure came last week despite petitions of more than 8,000 signatures, marches and 94 per cent of the respondents rejecting the idea.
This overwhelming pressure may have held up the closure but ultimately it will go ahead.
I am sure there are many residents in Lincoln who will feel they have not been listened to.
GPs are under pressure, patients are having to wait to see health professionals and the health service is grotesquely under-funded.
Sadly, what we are seeing in Lincoln is happening all over the country and is a great shame.
Yours faithfully, Margot Parker, (MEP for Lincoln)
