I am no career politician but my recent professions have given me an insight into the working of the EU.
I was a group buyer for a South American retail lingerie company from 1989 to 1995 and also worked in the promotional pre-paid telephone card industry for American company Itelsa Inc as sales director from 1996 to 2003.
I then worked for an online bespoke fragrance company as sales director from 2003 to 2008 and have been board director of the BPMA, (British Promotional Merchandise Association), and its European spokesman since 1996.
I was presented with the Sword of Honour and elected Fellow of the BPMA in 2007, as well as being director and head of communications for EPPA, (European Promotional Products Association), from 2003 to 2007.
Over the years, I have been interviewed by BBC Radio and other radio stations on my views on ethical sourcing and child labour issues, and I have written articles on subjects such as the Mattel toy recall from Chinese factories after the release of toys with lead content.
I have also spoken on behalf of the sales promotion industry in the UK and in Europe.
On the political front I was number two candidate for Libertas at the EU Parliamentary Elections for the East Midlands in 2009.
I joined UKIP in July 2009 and campaigned in the Norwich North By-Election, was the UKIP candidate for Sherwood in the General Election of 2010 and campaigned in Leicester South, Barnsley, Rotherham and Eastleigh.
I was the UKIP candidate for the Corby and East Northamptonshire By-Election in November 2012 - being interviewed by BBC, ITV, Reuters, most of the major UK daily newspapers, as well as German and Dutch TV - and beating the Lib Dems into fourth place.
I have also helped UKIP borough candidates in North Nottinghamshire in 2009 and 2010 and was the UKIP candidate for the county council elections for Corby Rural in May, 2013.
I am a member of the UKIP national team assessing candidates who aspire to become Westminster MPs.
On a personal note I am married with two sons and live in Northamptonshire and my hobbies include politics, world affairs, travel, current affairs and I am an avid newspaper reader.
I am also passionate about the commercial use of child labour world wide.
I was selected number two MEP candidate for UKIP East Midlands region for the 2014 European Parliament elections and have take up my seat alongside my East Midlands colleague Roger Helmer.
I sat on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee, (IMCO), and also the committee for Gender Equality and Womens' Rights, (FEMM), and after being appointed spokesman for small businesses, I am now the party's women and equalities spokesman.
